How I Help Clients Shop These Stays
When working with a client:
I confirm current pet fees, size limits, and seasonal availability.
I request room categories known to be most comfortable for dogs (quiet, easy to walk out, etc.).
I arrange extras like treat packages, spa services, or prepped walking routes.
I coordinate all logistics so when you arrive, everything is waiting — for both of you.
Ready to Plan a Pet-Worthy Escape?
If you're looking to travel with your dog—whether a coastal weekend, mountain retreat, or chic city stop—I’d be delighted to help. I can suggest more dog-loving places across the U.S. or internationally, and make sure your pup is as welcome as you are.
Want a pet-packing checklist or dog travel guide next? I can draft that too. Just say the word!
Traveling with your dog should be joyful — not stressful. Over the years, I’ve curated stays where pets are considered VIPs, saved mealtime on the floor counts as adorable, and walks along scenic trails are part of the experience. These U.S. properties go above and beyond to ensure four-legged guests are celebrated:
1. The Ritz‑Carlton, Bachelor Gulch – Colorado
Perched in the Rocky Mountains, this alpine resort treats dogs just as luxuriously as their owners. Your pup will enjoy a Doggie Room Service menu, plush dog beds, and access to nearby hiking trails. Concierge service can coordinate dog-walking or sitting as well.
2. Inn by the Sea – Cape Elizabeth, Maine
Along the scenic Atlantic coastline, this boutique resort combines sustainability with exceptional pet perks. Guests receive a Doggie Happy Hour, on-site dog spa treatments, pet dining menus, and beach access for walks. Expect thoughtful amenities like blankets and homemade treats.
3. Kimpton Hotels (e.g. Hotel Monaco Portland, Kimpton Brice Savannah)
Kimpton is one of my all-time favorite brands for pet-friendly luxury — and I’ve personally experienced it at the Kimpton Brice Hotel in Savannah. From the moment we walked in, I felt how genuinely they celebrate animals. My pup was greeted with tail wags, treats, and a welcome that felt personal.
At Kimpton, there are no pet fees, no size restrictions, and no awkward “only if it’s hypoallergenic” rules. Each hotel offers loaner beds, food and water bowls, treats, personalized door hangers, and even curated Spotify playlists for pets. And yes, your dog is invited to their nightly social hour!
It’s thoughtful, consistent, and part of why I recommend them so often to clients traveling with pets.
4. The Mark Hotel – New York City, NY
This Upper East Side landmark delivers ultra-luxury service — for dogs and owners. Chef Jean‑Georges designed a bespoke dog menu. The hotel offers luxurious amenities like flower carts and e‑bikes, and The Mark is frequently recognized as one of Manhattan’s most dog-friendly luxury hotels.
5. Cypress Inn – Carmel‑by‑the‑Sea, California
Opened by animal rights icon Doris Day, this charming boutique hotel is famous for its pet-forward hospitality. Every room welcomes pets, and features like “Yappy Hour,” dog‑blankets, and a foster-dog adoption program make it feel like family. Carmel itself is one of the most dog-friendly towns in America.
6. St. Regis Aspen Resort – Aspen, Colorado
An elegant mountain retreat with a local canine ambassador named “Kitty.” Guests can enjoy Champagne sabering events, Bark ’n Brews meet-ups, and a curated dog pad program. There’s also dog sitting and dog walking available — all in the picturesque Rockies.
